PAS English Communications

SSABSA
INFORMATION

Welcome to Ms Spence's website for your PAS English Communications course.

Here you will find all the course requirements, class handouts and context sheets for your summative assessment tasks and much, much more.

I have downloaded all the SSABSA documents that you might need, including those all-important context sheets to be attached to your submitted work. Click on the assessment button in the navigation menu to access these quickly.

As the course outline indicates, this 2 semester course requires you to complete 4 components: two Applications, a Communication Study, a series of Text Responses and four of your own Text Productions. Click on the menu buttons for more details on the individual tasks.

I will be adding new materials as the course progresses e.g. a Semester 1 Calendar, so keep this page bookmarked! This will include formative activities to develop the skills you need for the summative tasks. While these activities will be formative and not submitted to SSABSA, your marks will be recorded for your school assessment so that you can better track your progress. I will also included useful links that you can explore at your own pace, if and when you need to: e.g. essay writing hints, tips for oral presentations etc.

As you have probably gathered by now, I use computers a lot, and so will you during this course!

CLASS LISTSERV

I have set up a list-serv just for this class, using the school email adresses you have provided. You and I can use that list serv to communicate with the whole group e.g. to share ideas, to ask questions all would be interested in.

INDIVIDUAL EMAIL

Please use our individual email addresses to:

  • send me work (saves on paper + I can archive your work as a back-up in case of disasters) and I will return it with feedback, also via email.
  • discuss any individual concerns. I will respond promptly and in confidence.

ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO

Use your personal directory at school to back-up all your work. Set up a folder for PAS English and store all your work there. Do not rely on floppy disks as it is quick and easy (and safer) to send work between home and school via email
